This is the 2nd edition following on the 1965 Michael Joseph edition. Both are quite scarce and at the time of listing no copies of this edition were available for sale. A VG+ book bumpt to the top corners of both boards. Some damage to the top of the front free endpaper. Book is otherwise internally clean. Signed bookplate from the author laid in, signed as both Miss Read and Dora Saint. Copy of the original postcard that came with the bookplates included. Both in an acid free sleeve. A VG+ or better dust jacMiss Read (or Dora Jessie Saint) was an English novelist and a schoolmistress by profession. Best known for her Fairacre and Thursh Green novels set in the British countryside. In 1998 she was made a Member of the British Empire (MBE) for her services to literature.
