Hardcover with English, Afrikaans and Dutch text, Cartographic album commissioned by The Van Riebeeck Commemoration committee in 1952 and based on a cache of maps discovered in 1950 during governor CJ van der Graaff's tenure in the Cape Colony. At the end of the Dutch occupation the governor returned these maps to Holland, knowing the military value they would have for the British. A very good set, some wear to boards and a few tape marks on endpapers. All maps present including large fold out map in back pocket. Item #30166
