Herbert Asbury was particularly known for his true crime novels, known today in particular as the author of "The Gangs of New York", which was adapted to film by Martin Scorsese in 2002. A supernatural thriller featuring satanist, black masses, demon possession and supernatural murders. This is the first appearance, reprinted by A.L. Burt the following year and was then out of print for 85 years, before being reprinted by Ramble House in 2013. A rare book in particular with DJ. A near fine copy, bright yellow boards, black topstain, internally clean and in fine condition. VG+ or better unclipped jacket, closed tear at the bottom of spine, extending for a half circle about 3cm in length. Item #31227
