Monomotapa

1681. This is a scarce edition of a miniature map first was produced in 1660 by Pierre Duval. Herman Moll, a prolific cartographer, engraver and publisher in Britain, re-engraved the map for the 1681 edition of A New System of the Mathematicks by Sir Jonas Moore. (Printed in London by A. Godbid and J. Playford for Robert Scott, bookseller at the Princes Arms in Little Britain, M. DC. LXXXI i.e. 1681). 'A new geography with maps to each country, and tables of longitude and latitude' was bound in Volume II, arguably the first use of miniature maps specifically for education in Britain.
