Hercules and Nemean Lion (Tjalling Vogelvanger)
2011. The first entry into Jordanov's highly acclaimed "Twelve Labours of Hercules" series, this copy signed and numbered "17/100". Image size 85mm x 110mm, sheet size 175mm x 165mm. C3 Etching Hercules was tasked with killing a lion whose fur was impervious to all weapons. Realizing his arrows and club were useless, he cornered the beast in a cave and strangled it with his bare hands. He used the lion's own razor-sharp claws to skin it, thereafter wearing the impenetrable pelt as armor. Julian Jordanov is not just an illustrator but a visual storyteller.
