In Greek mythology, Thalia (or Thaleia, meaning "to flourish" or "blooming") refers primarily to one of the nine Muses, who presided over comedy and idyllic poetry. She is often depicted with a comic mask and a shepherd's crook, representing festive, light-hearted art. Juri Jakovenko (born 1965) is a renowned Belarusian graphic artist and engraver, internationally recognized for his technical printmaking and his fantastical, surreal imagery. Based in Grodno, Belarus, Jakovenko has established himself as a master of the etching needle, creating dense, narrative-rich compositions that often blend medieval aesthetics with modern surrealism.
