1958. Gerhard Wilhelm August Stauf (1924 1996) was a German graphic artist, illustrator and engraver. Working as a freelance graphic artist and copperplate engraver, primarily for the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications of the GDR. Over the course of his artistic career, he created more than 200 postage stamp designs, five of which were awarded the Golden Stamp Prize by the philatelic magazine Sammler-Express. Stauf also worked as an illustrator for book and magazine publishers such as Domowina-Verlag Bautzen and Prisma-Verlag Leipzig, and produced a large number of commercially applicable graphics for theatre and industry.
