New York: A. L. Burt Company, 1908. Hardcover. 8vo 8" - 9" tall. Very Good. A rare copy of this early 20th century gothic novel. Published in the UK by Hodder under the name Marchioness D'Alpens. She also often wrote under the names A. M. Williamson, C. N. Williamson (her husband initials and frequent collaborator, who did not seem to co-write this novel, even though it was pubished under this name). The book was adapted to a 1915 silent film under the same name, and Williamson also wrote the script for this. Book is in VG condition, the spine is heavily faded with some small tears at the top and bottom of the spine. Baords are looking better although some of the white from writing has rubbed off. Internally book is clean and VG+ or better condition. Webbing just visible on the half title, but book clear of foxing, stains or any problems. VG. Item #8186
